Mary Ellen King Griffith, age 80, of Williamsburg, KY, passed away Monday, February 23, 2026 after a battle with cancer at the Saint Joseph Main Hospital in Lexington, KY. Mary was born on February 8, 1946 in Jellico, TN, to the late Clarence “Sky” and Eva Mefford King Sr. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe “Cotton” Griffith Jr.; granddaughter, Tessa Renee Noe; great-grandchildren, Hope Thomas, Brealyn Rae Rose Thomas, Isaiah Ray Thomas; her sisters, Anna Lee Leach, Ollie Blakenship, Jean Proffit; and one brother, Clarence King Jr.
She is survived by her three children, Pamela Griffith (Arnold) of Barbourville, KY, Darrell Griffith (Janet) of Williamsburg, KY, Kimberley Griffith Thomas of Pinewood, SC; grandchildren, Michael Noe (Brittany) of Waynesburg, KY, Steven Noe of Corbin, KY, Maranda Noe (Caleb) of Williamsburg, KY, Douglas Garrett (Tosha) of Knoxville, TN, Andrea Branscum (Dustin) of Somerset, KY, Sara Meek (Kristopher) of Williamsburg, KY, Tasha Disney (Frankie) of Barbourville, KY, Sierra Walters of Williamsburg, KY, Robin Johnson of Williamsburg, KY, Ryan Thomas of Williamsburg, KY, Jay Thomas (Jackie) of Sumter, SC, Tyler Thomas (Courtney) of Sandy, OR; great-grandchildren, Trenton, Brooklynn, Gregory, Kylee, Harleigh, Harper, Kimberly, Tessa, R.J., Eli, Cole, Sidney, Bradley, Hunter, Colten, Kaisen, Bryson, Malaki, Aiden, Creed, Landon, Freya, Zuri, Miles, Carlyle; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Buhl of Williamsburg, KY, Delores Godsey of Corbin, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family to mourn her passing.
Funeral service was Saturday, February 28, at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lester Cox officiating. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery.
