Matt Lovitt

Date:

The sun set gently on the life of Matt Lovitt, who was called home to the Lord on July 3, 2025, surrounded by his family and the peaceful farm he so deeply cherished. With dedicated hands and a faithful heart, Matt lived a life rooted in hard work, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to God.
A native of Williamsburg, Matt was raised with the values that would guide his every step – faith, family, and a deep love for the land.
He spent over 30 years working for Chrysler, where his dedication and work ethic earned the respect of all who knew him. After retirement, he returned home to Kentucky, where his heart had always belonged. There, amid rolling fields and quiet mornings, he found the joy of a well-lived life.
Matt was a man of deep faith, who found God’s presence in everyday moments and heartfelt prayers. He was known for his gentle smile, servant’s heart, and a generosity that touched countless lives. In his words, his deeds, and the warmth he shared with those around him, Matt lived with steady joy and deep, abiding love.
Cherishing his memory is his devoted wife of 55 years, Rebecca, with whom he shared a lifetime of love; his children, Stanley Wayne Lovitt, Jennifer Strunk, Amy Olsen and her husband Christopher, Brad Lovitt, and Emily Clark; grandchildren, Larry, and Elizabeth; four great grandchildren; and his sister, Naomi Sutton.
His legacy endures in the hearts he nurtured, the land he stewarded, and the faith he carried to the end.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Edna Lovitt; brothers, Martin Clifford, Joe, Paul, Charles “Doc”, and Jerry Lovitt; and a sister, Retha Lovitt.
Though he has laid down his earthly tools, we know he rises now in glory. We imagine him walking once more – this time not in furrows of soil or auto assembly lines, but along heaven’s golden fields, his faith now sight, his harvest eternal.
A private memorial service will be held at a later time.
Condolences may be made to the family at www.ellisonfh.com.
Ellison Funeral Home is entrusted with these arrangements.
