A New Hampshire man who was airlifted from the scene Thursday morning after his Jeep dropped off a roadway in north Corbin and flipped multiple times, ejecting him from the vehicle, is listed in ‘critical’ condition at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
The driver is identified as Lloyd Saylor, 56, of Nashua, NH.
Jeannie Burkhart, who was in a vehicle following Saylor’s Jeep north on Cherry Ave., just south of Aldi grocery, said the Jeep stalled as Saylor topped the hill. When he hit the accelerator to get it started, the Jeep surged forward, went airborne and dropped off the road.
The Jeep flipped multiple times as it continued down the hill, ejecting Saylor in the process.
“He cartwheeled through the air three or four times,” Burkhart said of Saylor.
Saylor came to rest on the roadway next to the overturned Jeep. He was conscious and talking to law enforcement and emergency personnel as they prepared him for transport.
Saylor was taken by ambulance to the parking lot of the former American Greeting facility and flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Officials at UK said Thursday afternoon that Saylor is in, "critical" condition.
Cherry Ave. was closed to traffic for approximately 45 minutes as emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
