North Corbin couple accused of abusing three-year-old

Date:

Renae N. Carter, 26 and her boyfriend, John H. Thrower 31, have been charged with abusing Carter’s 3-year-old child.

Kentucky State Police were called to Saint Joseph-London about 11:30 p.m. Friday after hospital officials reported a possible case of child abuse. The child had been brought to the hospital emergency room by another family member for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Troopers Mike King and Lloyd Cochran began an investigation, which led them to a home on Oak Ridge Road in the Campground area of Laurel County where they found Carter and Thrower and took them into custody.

Carter and Thrower were each charged with one count of first-degree criminal abuse and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center. They are each being held on a $50,000 cash bond.

They are scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Laurel District Court.
