Pauline Frances (Karr) Cornelius, age 101, was born on November 12, 1923 to the late Egbert Karr and Mary Alice Sutton in Whitley County, Kentucky and departed this life peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Dominion Senior Living in Frankfort, Kentucky.
Pauline grew up in Corbin, graduating as valedictorian of the Class of 1940, Lynn Camp High School. She married Lowell Cornelius in 1949, and they lived in several places until his retirement from the army in 1962. They returned to Corbin where she worked for Belk’s department store as a buyer and department manager for 21 years. She was an active member of Central Baptist Church, serving in various ministries and as a second grade Sunday School teacher for more than 40 years.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Susan Wilkerson (Dan) of Versailles; and her son, David Cornelius (Gary) of Atlanta; two grandchildren: Daniel Wilkerson and Rebecca Heichelbech; four great grandchildren: Jordan Moore, Emily, Will, and Suzy Heichelbech; and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents and siblings, Eugene, Wanda, and Raleigh; Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell and a grandson, Mark Wilkerson.
Memorial services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, January 25, 2025, Cumberland Memorial Gardens, Lily, Kentucky. Dr. Max Cox presiding. All are invited.
Clark Legacy Center is honored to be handling the arrangements for Mrs. Pauline Frances (Karr) Cornelius.
