Police seize methamphetamine, $9,400 from Keavy man

Date:

A Keavy man is facing a drug trafficking charge following a multi-week investigation by the Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force.

Since mid-February the task force, which includes the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department and the London Police Department, has conducted an investigation into the alleged drug trafficking activities of Arnie Lewis of KY 552 in Keavy, according to a sheriff’s department release.

As a result of the investigation, police executed a search warrant Friday at Lewis’ residence where they discovered seven ounces of methamphetamine and about $9,400 cash, the release stated.

Police arrested Lewis, 65, charging him with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana less than eight ounces, and third-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), and lodged him in the Laurel County Correctional Center, according to the Correctional Center’s website.

Lewis has a prior federal conviction for distribution of cocaine, according to the sheriff’s department release.

As of 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Lewis remained incarcerated at the Laurel County Correctional Center.
