Rev. Charles Henry “Chuck” Spice, age 80, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Baptist Health Corbin.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. After graduating from college and seminary, he became a Pastor in the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church, serving numerous churches in the eastern part of Kentucky, including Corbin Trinity and Felts Chapel in North Corbin. He attended Trinity Methodist Church after retirement.
Rev. Spice was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Henry and Catherine Louise Spice Newcomb; his stepfather, Victor Newcomb; his wife, Marlene Kay Finchem Spice; a son, Charles “Chuckie” Spice; a son-in-law, Ricky Townsley; and two siblings, Pat Endico and Russell Spice.
Survivors include three daughters: Catherine Durst and John, Amy Townsley, and Sarah Schwerin and Matt; a daughter-in-law, Joy Spice; eleven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Thursday. August 21.
The life and ministry of Rev. Chuck Spice will be honored at 11:00 am Friday, August 22, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home in Corbin, Kentucky, with Rev. Jeff Frost and Rev. Charlie Douglas officiating.
Interment will be in the Whitley City Methodist Church Cemetery on Friday afternoon.
