A Whitley County woman had to be rescued Wednesday morning after her vehicle got stuck in waist deep water on Highway 11.
Whitley County Emergency Management Director Danny Moses that Monica Manning didn’t realize that water was over the roadway when she drove into it about 8:30 a.m.
Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Todd Shelley said that Manning was on her way to substitute teach in Knox County when she got stuck in about three feet of water about three miles into Knox County.
Shelley, Deputy John Hill and Patterson Creek Volunteer Firefighter Keith Croley helped rescue Manning from the floodwaters.
Shelley said that Croley drove deputies partially out into the water in his pick-up truck so they could get Manning out of her vehicle and to safety.
Woodbine and Patterson Creek firefighters helped pull the vehicle from the water.
Shelley said that “by the grace of God” nobody was injured during the incident.
