Three-year-old Woodbine boy accidently drown, Coroner says

Officials say a three-year-old who was found unresponsive in a pond Saturday night in Woodbine drown.

Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley confirmed the cause of death Tuesday night.

“It was an accident,” Croley said.

The child was found in the pond near his home on Wilton School Road off of Ky. 6 in Knox County at approximately 5:50 p.m.

The child was taken by ambulance to Baptist Health Corbin where he was pronounced dead.

The body was sent State Medical Examiner’s Officer in Frankfort for an autopsy.

The funeral service for Ashton Blake Siler Mitchell was held Wednesday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Bacil Holder officiating.

Burial followed in Corinth Cemetery.
