Two injured Thursday in two-vehicle wreck at Exit 15

Date:

Two people were injured and at least one had to be extricated following a two-vehicle accident shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday near Exit 15.

Whitley County Sheriff’s Cpl. Ken Shepherd said a white Cumberland Falls Highway Water District pick-up truck, which was driven by Howard "Les" Moses, 40, was heading south on US25W when it collided with a 2004 gray Saturn car.

The Saturn, which was driven by Allysha Bruse, 19, was heading north and turned into the truck’s path attempting to get on the southbound on-ramp, Shepherd said. The truck struck the car, which had just been purchased Thursday, near the area of the passenger side doors.

Williamsburg Fire and Rescue had to remove both passenger side doors in order to extricate the passenger, Angela Mullis, 19. She was transported to Jellico Community Hospital. Bruse suffered minor injuries, and was treated at the scene.

It wasn’t clear at the scene whether Bruse would have to be transported to the hospital. Both Whitley and Knox County EMS responded to the scene. Kentucky State Police Trooper Dewayne Foley also assisted at the scene.
