Students at Williamsburg City School received a warm welcome Friday morning as they were greeted by the University of the Cumberlands Women’s Basketball Team upon arrival at the school.

One reason the team chose to visit the school was because University of the Cumberlands Women’s Basketball Head Coach Rick Reeves has three grandchildren at the school.

He said his favorite part of his team’s visit was the interaction with students and seeing the smiles on their faces.

“Before COVID, we had a lot of interaction with the school children in the area, and we missed having that as well as the opportunity to be good role models for the young people,” said Reeves.

Students were all smiles as they arrived at the building Friday morning.

“We are happy with the partnership we have with the University of the Cumberlands,” said Williamsburg Superintendent Tim Melton. “It was great to see the students faces as the Lady Patriots greeted them Friday morning.”
