University of the Cumberlands student Ally Alred crowned Miss Whitley County Fair

This year’s Whitley County Fair pageant winners were crowned last Friday at the Williamsburg Tourism and Convention Center.

Ally Alred, a Harlan native currently enrolled at the University of the Cumberlands, was named Miss Whitley County Fair. First runner-up was Ava Van Schaick of Versailles, and second runner-up was Jessica Harris of Lancaster.

Ella Beth Gray of Barbourville won Miss Congeniality.

Contestants were judged in the categories of interview, swimsuit and evening gown.

The University of the Cumberlands provided a scholarship to the winner and first runner-up. Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. of Corbin provided a $500 scholarship for the queen of the Miss Whitley County Fair Pageant.

Alred will compete in the Miss Kentucky County Fair Pageant in November.
