UPDATE: Williamsburg man killed in wreck on I-75 identified as M. Lincoln Patrick

Date:

A Williamsburg man died Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Laurel County.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said was 69-year-old M. Lincoln Patrick.

Acciardo said the wreck occurred about at 3:21 p.m. near the 33-mile marker on southbound I-75.

Patrick, the only occupant of the vehicle, lost control for an unknown reason, veered to the left, veered to the right across all three lanes of traffic, and then back to the left. The vehicle then rolled over four to five times before coming to rest facing the opposite direction and resting against the concrete barrier near the center median.

Southbound traffic was brought to a halt for more than an hour, reopening just after 5 p.m.

Acciardo said Patrick was wearing a seatbelt. Neither drugs, nor alcohol are suspects to be a factor in the crash.

Deputy Kyle Gray is leading the investigation. Gray is being assisted by Kentucky State Police, Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Jerry Jones.

Laurel County Fire Department, London-Laurel County Rescue Squad and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County also responded to the scene.
