Velvet Lou Petrey, age 72, of Tackett Creek Road, Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Baptist Health in Richmond, Kentucky. She was born on January 14, 1949 in Williamsburg, Kentucky to the late Chris and Mildred (Blakley) Richmond.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Walter B. Powers Jr. and Johnnie Powers; and a great-granddaughter, Holly Lee Ann Powers. Velvet was a member of Glad Tiding Ministry of Williamsburg.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 54 years, Donnie Ray Petrey of Williamsburg; three daughters, Roberta Petrey Powers of Keavy, Kentucky, Charolette Petrey of Florence, Kentucky and Suzanna Petrey Powers (Robert Moody) of Keavy, Kentucky; thirteen grandchildren, Anthony Powers, Heather Leach, Kristi Douglas, Walter Powers III, Hunter Powers, Isabella Randle, Michael Petrey, Emmaleigh Powers, Chelsea Powers, Clarissa Powers, Parker Powers-Moody, Nathan Moody and Natalie Moody; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Elvin Lee Blakley (Tammy) of Williamsburg; two sisters, Brenda Wortham (Ed) and Susie Mahan, all of Williamsburg; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.
The family will receive friends after 6:00 pm on Monday, August 9, at Croley Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 10, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Douglas officiating. Following the Service she will be laid to rest in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
