Whitley Area Retired Teachers welcomes Nick Wilson, makes donations

82nd Rep. Nick Wilson was recently the keynote speaker during the Whitley Area Retired Teachers Association (WARTA) Dec. 11 monthly meeting, which was held at the University of Kentucky Extension Office in Goldbug.

The Whitley Area Retired Teachers Association (WARTA) is part of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, which has over 31,000 members.

WARTA recently handed out $200 checks to family resource centers at Corbin Independent Schools, Williamsburg Independent Schools, Whitley Central and Whitley East.

The funds came from the $10 annual dues that members pay.

WARTA also gave an $800 donation to the Corbin Backpack Program for Corbin and Whitley County schools, and a $200 donation to First Baptist Church for the Williamsburg Independent Schools Backpack Program.
