Whitley Co. Fair board hosting Aug. 20 flood relief mud bog

Date:

Even though the 2022 Whitley County Fair is over, this doesn’t mean that the Whitley County Fair Board has quit working.

Given all the devastation going on in Eastern Kentucky brought about by flooding, the Whitley County Fair Board has decided to host another mud bog later this month with all proceeds going towards flood relief funding in Eastern Kentucky, according to a post on the fair board’s Facebook page.

“Please join us as we will be doing (what) we love, slinging the mud and helping others. Mark your calendars,” the post read.

The mud bog will take place on Saturday, Aug. 20. Gates will open at 1 p.m. and the mud bog will start at 3 p.m.

Admission is $10 per person with children ages five and under getting in for free.

There will be youth 10 and under ATV and SXS classes, which will have no entry fee and a ribbon will be given out.

The ATV 500 CC and under and ATV open classes have a $5 entry fee and pay back $50.

THE SXS 900 CC and under and SXS open classes have a $10 entry fee and pay back $80.

The street class and 33” tire and under classes have a $30 entry fee and pay back $150. The street class vehicles must be licensed and insured and have to be driven to the bog.

The 34” – 38.5” tire class has a $40 entry fee and pays back $175.

The outlaw class has a $50 entry fee with a $400 payback.

There will also be a kids foot race for ages 11 and under. A donation is required to participate.

Food vendors will be present at the fairgrounds for the event.
