Whitley Co. Sheriff’s Deputy recovers stolen car

The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department recently recovered a stolen vehicle from Georgia, according to a news release.

On March 26, Deputy John Hill recovered the stolen Toyota Camry on Whetstone Road.

The Rossville Police Department had entered it as stolen.

The sheriff’s department is still investigating the case.

Deputy Brandon Prewitt and Kentucky State Police Trooper Donnie Jones assisted with the investigation.

In an unconnected case, the sheriff’s department also recently arrested a Williamsburg man on a drug-related charge, according to the release.

On March 27, Sgt. Jonas Saunders arrested Martin A. Canada, 45, of Patrick Hollow Road, while on Ova Lane and charged him with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and non-payment of fines, according to the release.

Canada was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center, and released from that facility on April 1, according to the jail’s website.
