Whitley County Health Department inspections

As part of its duties, the Whitley County Health Department conducts routine public health inspections of various entities, including restaurants, stores, schools, mobile home parks, swimming pools, etc.

Septic Tank Servicing

• Sanitation Solutions, Corbin – 100. Oct. 17 regular inspection.

Hotel – Motel

• Super 8, 30 W. HWY 92, Williamsburg – 78. Oct. 22 regular inspection. Comments: toilets and tubs soiled; rooms with not enough or no towels; floors soiled in corners and in hard-to-reach areas; stair well, common walk ways soiled; two rooms missing phones; plastic wares not protected from contamination; paint peeling off ceiling in restroom; tub faucet leaking in two rooms; clothes racks in multiple rooms coming down due to not being secured properly to the wall. Follow-up inspection required.

• Super 8, 30 W. HWY 92, Williamsburg – 83. Oct. 29 follow-up inspection. Comments: toilets and tubs soiled; rooms with not enough or no towels; floors soiled in corners and in hard-to-reach areas; stair well, common walk ways soiled; several rooms missing phones; paint peeling off ceiling in restroom; tub faucet leaking in two rooms; clothes racks in multiple rooms coming down due to not being secured properly to the wall. Follow-up inspection required.

• Super 8, 30 W. HWY 92, Williamsburg – 88. Nov. 19 follow-up inspection. Comments: toilets and tubs soiled; rooms with not enough or no towels; floors soiled in corners and in hard-to-reach areas; stair well, common walk ways, and ice machine room soiled; paint peeling off ceiling in restroom; tub faucet leaking in two rooms; clothes racks in multiple rooms coming down due to not being secured properly to the wall.

• Holiday Inn Express, 1973 Cumberland Falls HWY, Corbin – 84. Oct. 28 regular inspection. Comments: ice machines have buildup of mold-like substance growing in dispenser; not providing enough towels in rooms with two beds.; multiple chemical bottles not labeled; tank water heater was switched out to tankless a while back but did not look to be completed by a licensed plumber. Follow-up inspection required.

• Holiday Inn Express, 1973 Cumberland Falls HWY, Corbin – 94. Nov. 7 follow-up inspection. Comments: ice machines have buildup of mold-like substance growing in dispenser; not providing enough towels in rooms with two beds.

• Fairfield/Towne Place, 157 Arena Dr., Corbin – 100. Nov. 3 regular inspection.

School

• Corbin High School, 1901 Snyder St., Corbin – 95. Oct. 30 regular inspection. Comments: chemicals labeled “keep out of reach of children” out on counters in a couple of classrooms; maintenance room door left wide open and not attended. Follow-up inspection required.

• Corbin High School, 1901 Snyder St., Corbin – 100. Nov. 5 follow-up inspection.

• Williamsburg Independent School, 1000 Main St., Williamsburg – 98. Nov. 7 regular inspection. Comments: some classrooms using coverings over lights bringing lighting at desks below the required minimum of 50 fc (observed at 32 fc and 44 fc).

• Clayton Geneva Campground, 1901 River Rd., Williamsburg – 100. Nov. 6 regular inspection.

Public Swimming and Bathing Facilities

• Corbin City Pool, 409 Barbourville St., Corbin – 86. Oct. 29 regular inspection. Comments: chemicals in test kit out of date; outside restrooms in poor repair; missing lavatory in woman’s restroom; only one lifeguard from 1 – 3 p.m.; lifeguard on duty not dressed for water entry for life saving; lifeguard on duty not in proper station or wearing lifesaving tube with swimmers in the pool; missing “no one may enter or swim alone” sign and “children 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult” signs posted on outside of pool area by entrance to the pool; chlorine above the required range of 1-5 ppm; extension cords and lights pose a safety hazard for tripping. Follow-up inspection required.

• Corbin City Pool, 409 Barbourville St., Corbin – 86. Nov. 10 follow-up inspection. Comments: chemicals in test kit out of date; free chlorine tested at 7.0 on Oct. 29 and tested today at .8 (must be between 1-5 ppm); outside restrooms in poor condition (missing lavatory in woman’s restroom, ceiling in poor repair in restrooms); lifeguard on duty not dressed for water entry for life saving; missing “no one may enter or swim alone” sign and “children 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult” signs posted on outside of pool area by entrance to the pool; extension cords and lights pose a safety hazard for tripping. Follow-up inspection required.

• Corbin City Pool, 409 Barbourville St., Corbin – 98. Nov. 20 follow-up inspection. Comments: chemicals in test kit out of date.

• University of the Cumberlands, 6178 College Station Dr., Williamsburg – 97. Oct. 29 other inspection. Comments: combined chlorine is too high. Follow-up inspection required.

• University of the Cumberlands, 6178 College Station Dr., Williamsburg – 100. Nov. 10 follow-up inspection.

• Holiday Inn Express, 56 W. HWY 92, Williamsburg – 100. Nov. 5 other inspection.

• Hampton Inn, 530 HWY 92 W., Williamsburg – 100. Nov. 6 other inspection.
