William Edward Smith, known affectionately to many as Ed Smith, passed away on September 29, 2024, at the age of 51.
Born in Pineville, Kentucky on April 17, 1973, Ed spent his life in the service of others, working as a Journeyman Electrician at Tennessee Associates. His dedication and commitment to his work were recognized by his colleagues and friends, and he earned the respect of many throughout his career. A genuine lover of life, Ed was an avid hunter and sports enthusiast who found joy in the simple things.
Ed is survived by his son, Eli Smith; his father, James Smith; his siblings, Kim (Brent) Goins, Jimmy (Jennifer) Smith, and Billy (Helen) Smith. He leaves behind an extended family of nieces and nephews, including David Smith, Taylor Ashurst, Branden Grubb, Joshua Grubb, Erika Dixon, Katie Peace, Billy Smith, Jr., Helen Smith, Carol Smith, and Neal Smith; and a host of great nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Smith; and his grandparents, Mitchell and Alma Smith, and David “Cotton” Cox and Margaret (Paul) Cox; along with his niece, Marie Smith.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Ed’s life. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, at 5:00 pm at the Croley Funeral Home, located at 103 South 2nd Street, Williamsburg, Kentucky. The funeral service will be held at the same venue on Friday, October 4, at 11:00 am. Following the service, Ed will be laid to rest at 2:00 pm at the Smith Cemetery at Hwy 904, Williamsburg, Kentucky.
