Janet “Darlene” Kinder, age 75, of Six Lakes passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Darlene was born in Emlyn, Kentucky on December 18, 1949, to parents James and Hazel (Williams) Finley.
She was raised in Emlyn and Detroit, graduating in 1966, from Whitley County High School in Kentucky. On May 7, 1967, Darlene married the love of her life, Robert Kinder, and took on the role of homemaker and mother. When the children were in middle school, she continued her education at Tri State College and became a licensed cosmetologist. Darlene liked to camp but especially enjoyed finding antiques at garage sales, auctions, and flea markets. She loved to spend time with her beloved family. She served the Lord many years and was a current active member of the Sonshine Worship Center in Lakeview. Darlene will be remembered for her faith in God, being a wonderful example of a mother and loyalty to her family and church family.
Darlene will be dearly missed by her husband, Robert of Six Lakes; children, Cathy (Allen Lawson) Vaugly of Dearborn Heights, Tracey (Tod) Stephenson of Vestaburg, Robert (Cindy) Kinder of Six Lakes; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Judy Thorpe of North Carolina, Gale (Charles) Millis of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Robert (Mary Whitten) Finley of Williamsburg, Kentucky.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents; great-grandchildren, Jaxen Arens and Christopher Kinder; and brother, James Finley.
A funeral for Janet is being held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 16, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview with Pastor Stephen Brigham officiating.
