A swerve into the other lane landed Shannon Hardwick and Carlene Estep in the Knox County Detention Center after Corbin Police found methamphetamine in their vehicle.
Corbin Police Capt. Rob Jones said K-9 Officer Coy Wilson was on patrol Friday morning when he saw Hardwick’s vehicle swerve out of his lane.
After placing Hardwick under arrest for driving under the influence, Wilson used his K-9, “Kilo” to search the vehicle, finding an undisclosed amount of finished methamphetamine and several methamphetamine precursors.
Hardwick, 57, of Somerset, was charged with careless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc., possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a methamphetamine precursor, manufacturing methamphetamine and first-degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
Estep, 39, of Lily, was charged with public intoxication – controlled substance, unlawful possession of a methamphetamine precursor, manufacturing methamphetamine – second or greater offense and first-degree possession of methamphetamine.
Both were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
Wilson was assisted at the scene by Cpl. Rick Baker and officers Jeff Hill and Steve Meadors.
