Keavy Fire Department to stop serving portion of Whitley County

After 45 years, officials with the Keavy Fire Department announced the department would no longer cover the portion of its district located in Whitley County.

A joint letter from Letch Day, Chairman of the department’s Board of Directors, and Chief Richard Bales was sent to the Whitley County Fiscal Court with a copy posted on the department’s Facebook page to announce the decision in the area of Ky. 312 between the Corbin city limits and the Laurel/Whitley county line, along with the adjoining side streets, and Browning Acres Road.
