Bobby Gene Hicks

Bobby Gene Hicks, 82, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at his home in Corbin.

Born in Corbin, he was the son of the late Walter and Alma Townsend Hicks.

He was also preceded in death by sons James “Jimbo” Hicks and Bobby Michael Hicks; and by ten brothers and sisters.

Bobby was southern Baptist by faith and was a fan of Kentucky basketball and of country music. He had worked as a brakeman and conductor for L&N/ CSX Railroad, and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie Hicks; sons Charles D. Hicks and Roger D. Hicks; ten grandchildren, including special granddaughter Samantha Combs; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Jim Hartford and William Michael Hartford; and by several nieces and nephews, all who mourn his passing.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 25, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating.

Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery with military graveside honors.

Pallbearers were Kyle Combs, Jim Hartford, Virgil Steele, Ron Sanders, Sandy White, Greg Giles, Jeff Gomez, and Joe Hampton. CSX employees were honorary pallbearers.
