A routine traffic stop Monday evening in the Canadatown community resulted in the arrest of a Williamsburg man on methamphetamine related charges.
About 10 p.m., Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Jonas Saunders conducted a traffic stop along Nannie Hubbard Road of a white 2001 Buick LeSabre.
According to an arrest citation, the vehicle had no tail lamp on the right rear of the vehicle.
Saunders observed a small plastic bag containing what’s believed to be methamphetamine in the front passenger side floorboard, Sheriff Colan Harrell said in a release.
Under the front passenger seat, deputies found inside a pink sock a glass pipe, which is believed to be used for smoking methamphetamine, according to an arrest citation.
Saunders charged front seat passenger Aaron Dewayne Cox, 32, of Davenport Lane, with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (meth) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Cox was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $15,000 cash bond, according to the detention center’s website.
