The big green egg grills are returning to Corbin.
After last year’s Moonbow Eggfest was cancelled because of the COVID–19 pandemic, Corbin Tourism Director Maggy Monhollen announced that the event would return to downtown Corbin on Sept. 11.
The event, which began in 2014, features 40 chefs showing off their skills using the iconic Big Green Egg charcoal clay cooker.
Monhollen said chefs come from across the area, the state and the country will participate.
“We are limited on space,” Monhollen said when asked why the event is limited to 40 chefs. “Plus, we don’t to compromise the quality. Forty is a manageable number and can provide a good experience for event patrons.”
The chefs will prepare a wide variety of dishes including: smoked meats, breads, baked goods, pizza, stir fry, casseroles, dips, roasted vegetables, macaroni and cheese and more.
In addition, Monhollen said celebrity chefs Francine Bryson, who previously went by the name, “Francine the Redneck Baker,” and Chef Erik Holdo, who was previously part of the duo known as, “Chef and the Fat Man,” will be in attendance.
“Watch, learn and eat as these special chefs grill, roast and bake a variety of delectable foods,” Monhollen said.
In addition to the food offerings, Monhollen said patrons will have the opportunity to purchase craft and domestic beers provided by Old Town Grill, or a variety of Pepsi products to enjoy with their food.
Representatives from Big Green Egg will also be on hand for patrons interested in purchasing their own Egg.
“The ceramic cookers will be available to purchase the day of the event at a one-time-only reduced rate,” Monhollen said. “There will also be a variety of rubs, sauces, tools and accessories available for purchase.”
Tickets for Eggfest start at $20 per person, with tickets for children, age 12 and under, available for $8. Additional ticket packages for couples and families are also available.
