Ella Elizabeth “Betsy” Couture

Ella Elizabeth (“Betsy”) Couture, age 86, of Sylvania, Ohio passed peacefully on April 2nd in the comforting care of Ebeid Hospice.
Born on August 5th, 1935 in Habersham, Tennessee to Boyd Clyde McCullah and Nellie Bowlin McCullah.
Betsy was the eldest of 11 children. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 33 years Homer J. Couture; and siblings Rose Edith Paul, R.L., and Jack McCullah, Carolyn Thrasher, and Henrietta Furchtenicht.
Betsy moved to the Toledo area in 1952, where she worked at Toledo Technologies until her retirement in 1997. In her retirement, Betsy worked at Olander Park in Sylvania and was a dedicated volunteer with Sylvania Family Services.
She enjoyed traveling with her beloved husband Homer, camping at Turner Lake in Reading, Michigan, and collecting dolls. She also made legendary potato salad. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, adoring great-grandchildren, and special canine companions Hollie and Angie.
Those left to cherish her memory are Betsy’s children, Patricia (James) Thompson of Toledo, Ohio, Jeffrey Rose, and Terry Rose of Sylvania, Ohio; stepson, Thomas J. Couture, and stepdaughter, Tammy Browning; siblings, Goldie Blakely, Birdie McCullah, Joyce Huddleston, Evelyn McCullah, and Gail Buck. Betsy is also survived by loving grandchildren, Brooke (Carlos) Zuniga of Toledo, Ohio and Jay Rose, and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Mia Bella Zuniga and Dallas and Devon Rose.
No memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones regarding a future celebration of Betsy’s life.
