Items found in a vehicle during the arrest of three people near Corbin Sunday on meth related charges.
A routine traffic stop early Sunday evening near Corbin resulted in the arrest of three people by Whitley County Sheriff’s deputies on methamphetamine related charges.
About 7 p.m., Deputy Jonas Saunders stopped a pickup truck along Fifth Street Road near the Corbin Primary School after observing the vehicle cross the centerline when it left the Circle K gas station along US25W, the sheriff’s department said in a release.
Saunders and Deputy James Fox received consent to search the truck and found a substance believed to be methamphetamine, several needles and other drug paraphernalia, according to the release.
Michael Honeycutt, 28, Roy L. Garland, 33, both of Corbin, and Robert D. Osborne, 32, of Williamsburg, all pled not guilty during their arraignments Monday afternoon before Whitley District Judge Fred White.
All three are charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Honeycutt, the driver of the vehicle, was also charged with operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked operator’s license and for failure to maintain vehicle insurance.
White scheduled July 28 preliminary hearings in their cases, and set a $5,000 fully secured bond for each defendant with monitored conditional release conditions.
A $5,000 fully secured bond means that each defendant would have to put up $5,000 cash, $10,000 worth of property or a combination of the two in order to be released from custody.
If any of the trio posts bonds, he will be required to attend two Narcotics Anonymous or Alcoholics Anonymous meetings weekly as part of his bond conditions.
Sgt. Kirk Mays, Saunders and Cox are continuing the investigation.
"The sheriff’s department would like to thank the Corbin Police Department for assisting," Sheriff Colan Harrell said in the release.
