Baptist Health Corbin has recently undergone a significant makeover of its rehabilitation unit, focusing on updating patient rooms to enhance the overall patient experience and outcomes. As healthcare environments continue to evolve, this transformation underscores the importance of modernizing patient spaces.
“As we embark on renovating our rehabilitation patient rooms, our goal is to create an environment that meets the comfort and healing needs of our patients. These renovations reflect our commitment to providing the highest standard of care, ensuring that every aspect of our facility contributes to the well-being and recovery of those we serve,” said Dayla Saylor-Combs, Director of Nursing for Rehabilitation Services.
Updating the rooms has had a positive impact on both the patient and staff. With comfort as a key factor in patient recovery, patients rest well, experience less stress, and adhere to their rehabilitation programs when they have comfortable environments.
Mark Steely, Vice President of Planning and Operations, stated “Upgrading our patient rooms in the rehabilitation unit is a highly beneficial investment. It not only enhances patient comfort and safety but also improves staff efficiency. As healthcare continues to progress, adopting the latest designs and technologies will be crucial for delivering the highest quality care and ensuring positive outcomes for our patients.”
The design and atmosphere of the new patient rooms incorporated calming colors, natural light, and views of nature to create a more supportive environment. Studies have shown that such environments can reduce stress, improve mood, and even speed up the healing process.
With the newly renovated unit, staff workflow has also improved, making it easier for our healthcare providers to deliver care.
This project was made possible thanks to generous donations made to Baptist Health Foundation Corbin. Through gifts to the foundation, $95,000 was contributed toward this effort.
