Baptist Health Corbin has awarded one of its own teen volunteers, Lindsay Jones, with the Teen Volunteer Scholarship by the Baptist Health Corbin Volunteers.
Jones has contributed over 500 hours of service at Baptist Health Corbin, bringing compassion, energy, and a helping hand to patients, visitors, and staff. During her time at the hospital, she served in the breast care center and at the surgery desk, where she warmly greeted patients, offered directions, and helped them find their way while often providing reassurance during what could be a stressful day.
The Baptist Health Corbin Volunteers award scholarships each year to outstanding young people who give their time in service to the hospital while also pursuing their educational dreams. This year, Jones was recognized for her dedication, leadership, and positive spirit.
“This scholarship is our way of saying ‘thank you’ for the difference you’ve already made here — and to help you continue making a difference in the future,” said Debbie Hardin, Director of the Baptist Health Corbin Volunteers.
Jones plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University this fall, majoring in Pre-Nursing BSN, with aspirations of becoming a nurse and serving her community.
“We congratulate Lindsay on this well-deserved honor and thank all of our teen volunteers for the joy and compassion they bring to Baptist Health Corbin,” the hospital wrote in a release.
Baptist Health Corbin is a 273-bed, acute care facility providing a wide variety of healthcare services to residents of Whitley, Knox, Laurel, Bell, Clay, Harlan and McCreary counties in Kentucky and Campbell County in Tennessee.
