Billy Ray Sands Sr., 68, of Corbin, KY, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025 at the Baptist Health in Corbin, KY.
He was born on January 2, 1957, in Knoxville, TN, to the late James and Grace (Lee) Sands.
Billy was a loving and generous soul, known for his unwavering dedication to his family.
Billy is survived by his devoted wife, Marlene (Poe) Sands of Corbin, KY.; his children, Kim Taylor (Jeremy) of Corbin, KY., Billy Ray Sands JR (Antonia) of Woodbine, KY, Adam Ray Sands of Woodbine, KY, Jamie Poe (Kasnadra) of Somerset, KY, and Keith Poe of Indiana; his grandchildren, Dominick Combs, Jason Combs, Selena Taylor, Catrina Taylor, Trent Taylor, Kira Taylor, Gabe Sands, Ava Sands, Roman Sands, Cody Hickey, Megan Sands, Christian Poe, Jonathan Poe, Trinity Cornett, and Dakota Hubbard; and his great-grandchildren, Alex Hensley, Maverick Hensley, Jobie Hensley, and Barb Sands. He also leaves behind his sisters, Wonda Sands of Williamsburg, KY, Debbie Sands of Williamsburg, KY, Lisa Martinez of Williamsburg, KY, Linda Miller Knoxville, KY, and Betty Saylor of Knoxville, KY. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He is also preceded in death by his son, Danny Sands; and siblings, Brenda Sands, Cathy Carney, Joyce Mendez, Tommy Sands, and Earl Sands.
Visitation will be held at Croley Funeral Home, located at 103 South 2nd Street, Williamsburg, Kentucky, on Wednesday, June 4, beginning at 11:00am. The funeral service will follow at 1:00pm at the same location.
Billy will be laid to rest at the Croley Addition Highland Park Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Williamsburg, KY at 2:00pm.
Billy spent his life surrounded by a family that he cherished, and in turn, he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by them and the many friends who became his extended family.
