Elsie Mae Sams Whitehead, 84, of Corbin, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Compassionate Care Center at Richmond, KY.
A native of Knox County, she was a daughter of the late Etna and Arzilla Dugger Sams.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Elvin Whitehead; brothers Joe Sams, Gen Sams, and Dorlyn Sams; and sisters Opal Mitchell, Piney Rader, Grace Mitchell, and Artha Jones.
Elsie had been an operator with Bell Telephone Co. and had helped Elvin at his shoe repair shop.
She was of the Baptist faith, and had been an avid fan of UK basketball for decades.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; Rev. Theodore and Violet Silcox, sister; Connie Jackson, brother Johnny Silcox.

He was born on August 5, 1931 in Williamsburg, to the late Charles and Elva (Harp) Mayne.
Laymon was a proud veteran serving our country with the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War.
He spent his career as a barber shop owner/operator of Dan and Layman’s Barber Shop.

Nola Marcina Lay Sharp, 102, of Kingsport, and formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Indian Path Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Mrs. Sharp was a native of Newcomb, TN but spent her adult life on Wolf Creek in Kentucky, moving to Kingsport in 1990.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill. Before moving to Kingsport, she taught music and was Pianist and Organist at her home Pleasant View United Methodist Church for over 60 years.
