And they’re off! The 2025 racing season kicked off over the weekend at The Mint – Cumberland Run, located at 777 Winners Lane in Corbin. A large group of race fans showed up to cheer on the world-class drivers while placing bets and enjoying the picture-perfect weather.

At Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, the Louisville Orchestra delivered a concert under the direction of Teddy Abrams. The evening also included Anthony Green's site-specific Creator Corps performance and an art show at DuPont Lodge, creating a unique blend of music, art, and community.

The 2025 Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR) summit event returned to the Corbin Arena for four days (Aug. 26-29) of learning, networking, and celebrating the region's greatest achievements made by individuals and groups.
Williamsburg City School hosted its Back to School Bash on Aug. 21. Students met their new teachers, enjoyed popcorn, hotdogs, and other snacks, played on inflatables, and received free books and haircuts.
The 73rd Annual Nibroc Festival featured a variety of fun and exciting events for the community. Highlights included the Volleyball Tournament, Tomahawks Singer-Songwriter Contest, Fastest Kid in Town competition, and a 2-Mile Run. The festival also offered entertaining performances by Chad Rogers, Chris Janson, Dad's Mad, County Wide Sidewinders, and Sammy Kershaw, along with carnival rides for everyone to enjoy.
Summer Rains of Corbin has been awarded a 2022 Kay Campbell Nursing Scholarship from Grace Health.
She is the daughter of Allen and Shawnda Rains and will receive a $3,000 scholarship award for her nursing career studies, which she will begin pursuing this fall following her graduation from Corbin High School.
Grace Health awards the Kay Campbell Nursing Scholarship to a student in each of its six service areas in Southeastern Kentucky. The scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors pursuing a career in nursing or a medical-related field.

Walkin' On The Wild Side: Kids of all ages packed the children’s area of the Whitley County Public Library Tuesday morning for a chance to see the variety of critters on hand during the Knoxville ZooMobile’s visit. The ZooMobile was part of the library’s “Ocean of Possibilities” summer event schedule. Among the animals shown during the presentation was Thor, a female bearded dragon.

There will be several Independence Day celebrations across Williamsburg held over the span of several days beginning on Friday, July 1.
On Friday, the city’s summer event schedule continues with the second block party of the summer at Bill Woods Park, featuring the band Hi 5.
