Corbin’s Aiden Senel competed during the weekend at the 2026 KHSAA State Swim Meet. He placed 20th in the 500 Free and 24th in the 100 Fly.

Corbin is sending nearly one dozen Redhound wrestlers to the state tournament. On Saturday, the boys’ team finished third overall. Eight Redhounds will compete at the state tournament. BJ Jackson and Josh Goins each placed first in their respective divisions making school history as the first regional champions for Corbin’s wrestling program. Jackson was voted Region 7’s Most Outstanding Wrestler. On the girls’ side, Avah Hammons and Allison Neeley will compete at state after placing fourth in their respective classes.

Corbin’s bass fishing duo Zachary May and Maddix May reeled in a first place finish at Laurel Lake during the weekend. The duo’s ‘big fish’ weighed in at 4 pounds 11 ounces. The teams total weight was 7 pounds 11 ounces.

It was a big night for the Whitley County Colonels and Lady Colonels Tuesday, as both teams were able to secure important district wins over Corbin.
The girls took the court first inside Charles M. Lawson Gymnasium, with the Lady Colonels managing to avenge a loss to Corbin earlier this season by securing a 52-39 win in the rematch. The victory improves the team to an even 10-10 on the season, and puts them at 3-2 in district play. The Lady Hounds, meanwhile, fall to 10-7, 2-2.

Regular season competition between 50th District opponents continued Tuesday night with a pair of double headers in Corbin and London as the Redhounds and Lady Hounds played host to Whitley County and the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets traveled to South Laurel.
South was dominant in both games against the Jackets, with the Lady Cards winning, 92-19, and the Cardinal boys winning, 79-12. The losses keep both Williamsburg squads winless in district play, but they will hope to have a better showing next Tuesday, Jan. 27, when they host Corbin in another double header.

This past Saturday, the Corbin High School gymnasium hosted a wrestling competition for the very first time. Not just any competition, but this year’s 2A Section 5 duals.
“The Kentucky Wrestling Coaches Association puts it on,” CHS Head Coach Chuck Davis said of the duals, which included the Redhounds, Boyle County, Pulaski County, Wayne County, Madison Southern and the Whitley County Colonels.

Tuesday night featured four 50th District contests as the Williamsburg Lady Jackets and Yellow Jackets hosted their crosstown rivals from Whitley County and the Corbin Redhounds and Lady Hounds made the short trip north to play at South Laurel.
It was a tough night for Jacket fans. First, the Williamsburg girls fell to 2-6 on the season, 0-1 in district play, after an 84-20 loss to the Lady Colonels. With the win, Whitley improves to 7-7, 1-0.
Both teams will face 50th District competition again this Friday evening, as Williamsburg will travel to face Corbin and Whitley County will play host to South Laurel.

This past Saturday, the Whitley County Colonels and Lady Colonels basketball teams were able to advance to the final days of competition in this year’s Kentucky 2A Sectional Championship Tournaments, which were hosted by Bell County High School.
First up Saturday was Head Coach Ronnie Collier’s Lady Colonels, who faced McCreary Central in their first round matchup. Season leading scorer Maddy Hopkins scored 19 points for Whitley County in what ended up being a 55-32 victory that improved the team to 5-6 overall. Jaylee Cox and Jonna Rice scored 18 and 13 points, respectively. All three players are in their junior seasons at WCHS.

The Corbin Lady Hounds recently traveled to Freeport, FL where they went 2-1 at a holiday tournament before returning to the Bluegrass State and falling to Knox Central, 66-61, this past Saturday in the first round of the Kentucky 2A Sectional Championship Tournament at Bell County High School.
This was Corbin’s second loss to the Lady Panthers this season, also falling in Barbourville back on Dec. 15 by a final score of 74-66.
