With 21 consecutive titles for the boys’ team, and 13 consecutive titles for the girls, the Corbin High School tennis program is seeking to continue its absolute dominance in the region this spring, and four senior players are leading the way. Morgan Cook (formerly Morgan Freeman) has achieved great success in the sport of tennis as a player at the high school and collegiate levels. She has also helped guide the Corbin tennis program to multiple championship victories as an assistant coach between 2016-2018. (Story by Trevor Sherman) The Corbin Redhounds Tennis Team sent 10 players to the 2022 KHSAA state tennis tournaments in Lexington, and after Tuesday’s play three advanced to the Sweet 16. On Tuesday, Corbin's doubles team of McArthur/Lundy defeated Scott/Edwards of Bullitt East 6-3, 3-6, 1-0. This win advanced them to the round of 32 later in the day where they faced the team of McNamee/Harris from Belfry. Region tennis finals feature 10 Redhounds

After opening round, quarterfinal and semifinal round play, the championship matches were set to take place on Monday. However, due to rainy conditions the championships were postponed to Tuesday evening, and final results were not available by press time. The finals of this year’s regional tennis tourneys were dominated by the host Corbin Redhounds, with each match featuring CHS players, including two instances of teammates squaring off against each other for first place honors. The Corbin Tennis Boys’ Doubles team of Dylan Koen and Quinn Maguet ended the season after reaching the quarterfinals of the state tournament last week. Koen and Maguet defeated North Oldham’s team of Luke Colson and Samuel Gurevich, 6-4, 6-3 Wednesday morning in the sweet 16. Koen and Maguet defeated North Oldham’s team of Luke Colson and Samuel Gurevich, 6-4, 6-3 Wednesday morning in the sweet 16. The Corbin Tennis duo of Dylan Koen and Quinn Maguet are among the 16 boys’ doubles teams remaining after the first day of the state tennis tournament Tuesday. Koen and Maguet defeated the duo of Seth Derscha and Ethan Ratliff, of Russell, in the opening round Tuesday morning, 6-2, 6-1. State tennis tournament begins Tuesday morning

The state tennis championships are scheduled to begin Tuesday morning in Lexington. Corbin’s Camden Harris will face Alden Johnson of Ashland Blazer at 8 a.m. Should Harris win, he will face the winner of the match between Clay County’s Tayton Baker and Monroe County’s Brandon Sheffield at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Corbin’s other boy’s singles player, Nate Hill, will open the tournament at 9:30 a.m. against Evan Bentley of Woodford County. Corbin Tennis named region champions

Corbin High School Tennis brought home both the boys’ and girls’ 13th Region team titles on Saturday and will be sending 11 competitors to the state championship. The Racket Redhounds punctuated the team titles on Saturday with players winning three of the four individual titles. Eighth grader Lindsay Jones defeated North Laurel’s Jaron Gray in the girl’s singles bracket. Girls’ Coach Chris Jones noted that this is the first season playing at the varsity level for Jones. “I knew she had put into the work.
