Three CHS athletes sign with colleges Wednesday

On Wednesday, three Corbin High School athletes signed on to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. “We appreciate the hard work and the effort that you have put in during your time at this school,” said CHS Athletic Director Andrew Roark of the three signees – Madison Hicks (softball), Halia Stidham (softball) and Sophie Anderson (volleyball). “This is what we want. Corbin volleyball team gearing up for Sweet 16 appearance Friday

The Corbin Lady Hounds volleyball team is preparing to take the court this Friday, November 3, in the first round of the 2017 KHSAA state championship tournament at Valley High School in Louisville. When the Hounds appear in this year’s state tourney, they will be doing so as the reigning 50th District and 13th Region champions. They will also be coming in with a season record of 28 wins and six losses. The Corbin High School volleyball team, now 28-6 on the season, defeated North Laurel three sets to one Tuesday evening to become 13th Region champions in 2017. On Friday and Saturday of last week the Whitley County Lady Colonels volleyball team hosted their Annual First Priority Classic inside the gymnasiums at Whitley County High, Middle and Intermediate Schools. Excitement building for inaugural volleyball season at W’burg HS

History is about to made at Williamsburg High School with the school’s first-ever volleyball team set to take the court this fall. The volleyball Jackets recently held a carwash fundraiser at Forcht Bank in Williamsburg, and during that time new Head Coach Samantha Stuckwisch-Eier took a few minutes to discuss how things have been going with the team so far. 2016 has been a year of mostly ups for the Whitley County Lady Colonels volleyball team, but there have been a few bumps in the road along the way. The Colonels won eleven of their first 12 games this season, including victories over North Laurel on August 20 and September 6. They lost to North during pool play of their Annual First Priority Volleyball Classic, however, and the Lady Jags would later eliminate them from tournament play as well. Whitley volleyball wins 51st District championship Thursday

After a 3-0 (25-19, 25-5, 25-14) win over Knox Central Thursday evening, the Whitley County Lady Colonels volleyball team are once again 51st District champions. The district title win took place at Barbourville High School Thursday, and it improved the Lady Colonels to 27-9 on the year. Whitley will now shift their focus to this year's 13th Region tournament, which they will be hosting next week.
