Corbin loses to Clay Co in boys’ region championship

Date:

Junior Kenny Hopper scored 19 points in Monday’s Region 13 championship game against Clay County, but it was not enough to lift the team to victory. The Tigers would win by a final score of 68-54.

Clay led at the half 22-18, and they opened up the third quarter by going on a 10-0 run, but Corbin would trim the lead all the way down to two late in the fourth quarter. The Tigers were good from the free throw line down the stretch, however, and they held on to earn a spot in the state championship tournament.

The Redhounds ended the season with an overall record of 22-11.

Pick up a copy of Wednesday’s News Journal for full coverage on tonight’s game, as well as a recap of all the action at the Region 13 tournament.
