Local ghosts, goblins, princesses and superheroes will have plenty of time to trick or treat this year on Halloween in the city of Corbin.
During its regular monthly meeting Monday, the Corbin City Commission announced that trick or treat hours at downtown businesses will be from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. on Halloween, Oct. 31.
Residential trick or treating will take place that evening from 6 – 8 p.m.
Trick or treating was one of a number of upcoming events discussed during Monday’s meeting.
Corbin Parks and Recreation Director and Downtown Manager Jacob Roan announced that the town’s Octoberfest celebration will take place all day on Oct. 12.
Corbin Tourism Director Nancy Conley said that there are already over 30 vendors lined up for Octoberfest.
In addition, Roan noted that there will be a ladies night “witches walk” that will take place at local bars and restaurants on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 6 – 9 p.m. There will be a contest for best witch, and specials at downtown establishments for participants.
“It will be like a pub crawl,” Roan noted.
Conley added that 11 restaurants have signed up to participate in Dessert Week, which will take place Sept. 30 – Oct. 5. Prices will vary depending on the establishment.
Conley also made two other announcements during Monday’s meeting.
A drainage project for Sanders Park is slated to begin this week, and is expected to take about three weeks to complete.
In addition, starting Oct. 31, Corbin Tourism through Longwoods International, which is a destination tourism market research partner, will be conducting research in Corbin through a resident sentiment survey.
“This is getting feedback from Corbin residents on how they feel tourism is going in Corbin, and any feedback they have for us,” Conley said. “It is a very important survey. Anyone that has a Corbin zip code please take it and share it with everyone.”
The city is expected to send out a Reach Alert about the survey sometime next month.
