Corbin woman hurt in wreck on KY 511

Date:

A Corbin woman was injured Friday when her SUV slid off the slick roadway and went over an embankment.

Whitley County Sheriff’s deputies say Nicole Lawson was taken by ambulance to Baptist Health Corbin following the single-vehicle wreck on Ky. 511. Deputies and Oak Grove firefighters were called to the scene about two miles east of the intersection of Ky. 511 and U.S. 25W.

Deputies said Lawson was traveling east on Ky. 511 when she lost control on the rain soaked roadway, spun around facing west and slid over the approximately 15-feet high embankment.

The SUV came to rest near several trees and a creek.

Traffic was reduced to one lane for approximately one hour as emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
