Corbin woman injured in Thursday crash

Date:

A Corbin woman was injured Thursday afternoon when her car overturned multiple times on U.S. 25 south of Lily.

Anita Peters, 74, was taken to Baptist Health Corbin for treatment of the injuries she sustained.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said Peters was traveling south in her Volkswagen at approximately 4:30 p.m. when she swerved to avoid an oncoming motorcycle that had crossed over into her lane.

The Volkswagen overturned multiple times before coming to rest on its top in a ditch.

Lily Fire Department, London Laurel Rescue Squad and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County all responded to the scene.

Deputies are continuing the investigation.
