The Corbin Police Department and the Corbin Fire Department will face off later this month for the fourth consecutive year in a heated chili cook-off, all in support of restoring the historic Carnegie Library.
In partnership with the Carnegie Library Board, the event will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Depot on Main. Attendees will have the chance to sample chili prepared by both police officers and firefighters, then vote for their favorite.
The department with the most votes will be declared the winner.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Carnegie Library Board,” said Corbin Police Chief Rusty Hedrick. “Good luck to both parties, but we hope to come out on top.”
Corbin Fire Chief Berry McDonald responded, “We wish the best of luck to both departments, but we hope to come out on top, just like we did last year.”
The Police Department claimed victory in both the first and second chili cook-offs.
Last year, the Fire Department took the title in the third annual event.
Will the Fire Department defend their title, or will the Police Department reclaim the trophy? The choice is yours.
Tickets are $10, and all proceeds will go toward restoring the Carnegie Library and preserving its history. Tickets will be available at the door.
