Cumberland Falls State Park getting $10 million renovation

Date:

If you are wanting to stay at historic Dupont Lodge or eat at the Riverview Restaurant at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, then you should probably be doing so over the next few months. Otherwise, you may have to wait a while.

The Dupont Lodge and Riverview Restaurant at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park are slated to undergo $10 million in renovations to enhance visitor experiences. As part of this improvement initiative, the lodge and restaurant will be temporarily closed starting Nov. 1, 2025. Funding for the lodge room upgrades was supported by Gov. Andy Beshear and approved by the General Assembly during the 2024 legislative session.

During the renovation period, guests can still reserve cabins. All other facilities will remain open, including the Cumberland Falls, campgrounds, gift shop, welcome center, hiking trails and community pool.

“We are thrilled to enhance guests’ offerings at one of our most visited and treasured parks. We appreciate guests’ understanding as we make much-needed renovations and repairs to the lodge and restaurant,” said Kentucky State Parks Commissioner Russ Meyer. “We are grateful for the support from Gov. Andy Beshear and the General Assembly, which is essential for these renovations and improvements. This investment ensures that generations of Kentuckians and visitors can continue to enjoy our state parks for decades to come.”

To better serve guests, Kentucky State Parks resorts, including Cumberland Falls, take reservations up to a year in advance. Therefore, reservations for the lodge and restaurant will not be accepted beyond Nov. 1, 2025.

Once the renovations are complete, the lodge and restaurant will reopen with improved amenities and experiences. Kentucky State Parks officials will share updates as the renovations progress.

Dupont Lodge hasn’t been renovated since the 1990s.

Additional future improvement projects at Cumberland Falls include campground upgrades, wastewater repairs, Wi-Fi access at the campground and structural and safety repairs.

Cumberland Falls State Resort Park is located at 7351 Highway 90 in Corbin, and is known for the famous moonbow phenomenon. The historic Dupont Lodge features stone fireplaces and 51 rooms. Cabins, cottages and campsites are also available for rental.

Cumberland Falls State Resort Park is the most visited state park in Kentucky with nearly one million visitors annually.
