Elderly woman injured in Keavy fire Friday

Date:

An elderly woman was taken to St. Joseph-London with second-degree burns stemming from a house fire in Keavy Friday morning.

Keavy Firefighters were paged to the scene at 1165 Baker Ridge Road off of East Ky. 552 at 8:55 a.m.

"When we arrived on scene, it had already fallen in and was on the ground," said Keavy Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Skip Dodd.

Dodd added that the single story home was a log cabin design, though it had been added onto in several areas.
With the home essentially destroyed, the owners requested that the fire department let the remainder of the structure burn.

Dodd said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
