Elizabeth Ann Sanders, age 93, of Troy passed away January 25, 2026 at Story Point in Troy, Ohio.
Ann is now in Heaven being reunited with those in her family and others she knew in Christ who are already there.
She was born November 5, 1932 in Lily, Kentucky. She graduated from Lily High School in 1950 where she was the salutatorian of her class. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1953 with a degree in commerce teaching typing, shorthand and accounting. She started her career working in the office of US Steel, a coal mining company in Lynch, Kentucky. In 1955 she was hired (over the phone) and taught at Miami Central High School in Miami County, Ohio. She was then employed at Hobart Corporation in the office until she was hired and taught at Miami East High School for one year. In 1966 she was hired at Newton High School in Pleasant Hill, Ohio where she taught until she retired in 1991. She then was a substitute teacher for several years at Piqua High School. She was well liked in all her career experiences.
She comes from a large family of six children in Kentucky. The surviving families are her husband of 67 years, Robert Sanders and their two children, Lisa Romie of Troy and her children, Justin and Jessica Romie; Greg Sanders and wife Myra of Troy and their children, Brad Sanders, Nick Sanders, Drew Sanders, Matt Sanders and Molly Sanders. Three great-grandchildren, Nolan, Cohen and Lucas Sanders and many nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Grant Reed and Minnie (Lovelace) Reed; sisters, Jessie Haverly, Margorie Gill, Alma Bennett; brother, Grant Reed Jr.; and half-brother Ray Reed.
She enjoyed volunteering at the Hayner Cultural Center. She enjoyed traveling to southern states and spending time visiting with her Kentucky family on many occasions. This included the times her children attended Georgetown College in Kentucky. This includes attending 35 Lily High School reunions.
Church life was an important part of her life. She became a Christian at an early age. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church, Troy Ohio for over 30 years. She also attended her family’s home church in Lily, Kentucky on nearly every visit. Being with family was also an important part of her life.
Many thanks to Story Point for the care and support that was provided to Ann during her stay. A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
