George Hays Road repairs expected to start next week

Work to repair George Hays Road, which partially collapsed on April 17 into Briar Creek, is almost ready to begin.

George Hayes Road is is still closed following the April 17 collapse of a portion of it, but work is slated to start next week to repair it.

Williamsburg Mayor Roddy Harrison said that the materials were ordered Tuesday, and should arrive in town either late this week or early next week.

“We will start the repairs as soon as it comes in. More than likely starting the first of next week,” Harrison said in a text message.
