Gerald Don Phillips, 79, formerly of Corbin, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019, at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, KY.

He was born March 7, 1940 to the late Jonah and Effie Phillips.

Gerald was a saved, born again Christian and attended Ormsby Heights Baptist Church.

He was an avid UK fan and loved watching his grandchildren play sports and his family was his whole world. Gerald was also a US Army Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Hillard Phillips, and two sisters, Zettie Sturgill and Juanita Sams.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Gwen Phillips; two children, Sherry Cox (Alan) and Chris Phillips (Angie); six grandchildren, Jessica Kremer (Joe), Jordan Schwartz (Conner), C.J. Phillips, Cassidy Cox, Chase Phillips, and Aubrey Phillips; two great grandchildren, Landon and Kennedy Kremer; one sister, Margie Scott (Herman); and numerous friends and family to mourn his passing.

The funeral service for Gerald Don Phillips, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 26, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Corinth Cemetery in Corbin.

The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Hospice of Louisville.
