Green Thomas “Tom” Hubbard

Date:

Green Thomas “Tom” Hubbard entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on February 11, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on February 3, 1940, Tom’s life was a testament to the strength and grace found in a life truly dedicated to Christ.
A proud veteran, Tom served his country with honor in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he continued to serve his community and his God as a faithful and longtime member of the Canada Town Holiness Church. He devoted his life to Christ and his family, and the way he lived each day showed everyone exactly how great of a man he was.
Tom was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Nannie Jane Hubbard; his son, George “Jr” Hubbard; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren Jane and Mason Tyke. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Elizabeth Blevins, Hallie White, and Nancy Steel; his brothers, Perry, Hobart, and Archie Hubbard; and two baby siblings.
His legacy of love lives on through his daughters, Tonya Akers, Benita Smith (husband Todd), and Sharon Hubbard. He is also survived by his sisters, Sarah Nass and Betty Grimes (husband Steve); his brothers, Sherman Hubbard (wife Debbie) and Johnny Hubbard (wife Pam); and a very special sister, Hattie Hubbard.
While he was Tom to many, he was most proudly known as “Papaw” to his grandchildren: Stephanie Hubbard (husband Clarence), Josh Hubbard (wife Brooke), Lacey Tolliver, Anthony Akers (wife Tessa), Kyle Akers (wife Jennifer), Baylee Gambrel (husband Derek), and Jackson Smith (wife Chelsea). His light continues to shine through his 21 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Tom was a pillar of faith and a steady hand for his family. While he will be deeply missed, his loved ones take comfort in knowing he has finally reached his eternal home.
