Heated argument turns violent, sister stabs brother Tuesday

A Corbin man’s sister allegedly stabbed him with a knife Tuesday after the two got into a heated argument over him being unemployed.

According to Corbin Police, Stephanie Lynn Helton, 43, and her brother Zachary Westerfield got into an argument that turned voilent Tuesday morning at a home on Engineer Street. Police say the two had been arguing over Westerfield’s employment status when Helton "grabbed a knife and stated ‘I’m going to kill you."

Westerfield was taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center to be treated for several cuts and stab wounds to his left hand. He was released Tuesday.

Helton was arrested without incident an charged with second-degree assault, a felony. She is in the Knox County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.

Corbin Police Patrolman Steve Meadors is investigating the case along with Det. Bill Rose.
