The Whitley County Colonels led the South Laurel Cardinals 42-14 at the end of the third quarter of Friday night’s game in London. The Cards were able to score twice in the fourth quarter against the Whitley JV unit to make the final score more respectable, but in the end the Colonels improved to 3-2 on the season with the 42-28 victory. Next week they will host the undefeated North Laurel Jaguars at Whitley County High School.
The Lynn Camp Wildcats were unable to keep their win streak alive Friday night in Jellico, falling to the Blue Devils by a final score of 44-14. The loss drops the Cats to 4-2 on the year before another road trip next week to face off with Clinton County.
Corbin traveled to Lindsey Wilson College Friday where they met up with the Mayfield Cardinals, who have won the Class A state championship three times in a row before moving up to Class 2A this year. The Hounds gave the Cards all they wanted, but fell in the end by a score of 28-14. Next week Corbin (3-3) will host district opponent Jackson County for a Thursday night game at Campbell Field.
And finally, the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets were able to pick up their first win of the 2015 season Friday night, defeating Ludlow on the road 23-14. The Jackets will now get a week off to prepare for their first district game of the season at Harlan.
