Corbin School District officials are now saying the number of students affected by a recent decision by the Knox County Board of Education to end a long-standing non-resident reciprocal agreement is hundreds more than first thought.
Below is the full text of a press release distributed by the school district Monday:
Corbin Independent School Superintendent Ed McNeel reports a clarification is being made on the number of students attending Corbin schools and living within the school boundaries of Knox County. He explains that the school district in the spring of 2009 converted the student management data to the new state Infinite Campus system and many addresses were missing or in error. A close review of the student information was conducted by Corbin staff to determine that instead of the 169 originally reported, there are 406 students currently living in the Knox County school district and attending Corbin schools. Parents of the students will be sent a letter to verify the address on file is correct. Superintendent McNeel has notified Superintendent Walter T. Hulett, Knox County Schools, about the revised number of students.
