KBC hosts Sept. 3 blood drive in Williamsburg

Date:

The Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) is hosting a blood drive where donors can receive a “Stay Wild” T-shirt while supplies last.

The event will take place on Sept. 3 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the KBC Bloodmobile, located at the Williamsburg Tourism and Convention Center, 650 S. 10th St., Williamsburg.

A whole blood donation takes about 45 minutes and can save up to three lives, from registration to refreshment.

To donate, individuals must be at least 17 years old (or 16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, show a photo ID, and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.

Statistics show that one in four people will need a blood transfusion in their lifetime for reasons ranging from cancer treatments to trauma, surgeries, blood disorders, organ transplants, and more.

Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment, visit kybloodcenter.org or call 800-775-2522.

KBC is the largest independent, full-service, nonprofit blood center in Kentucky and has been saving local lives since 1968. KBC provides services in 90 Kentucky counties and has donor centers in Lexington, Louisville, Frankfort, Pikeville, Somerset, and the Tri-County area (Corbin).
